Magnesium chloride is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula MgCl2 and a molecular weight of 95.211. It is a colorless plate-like crystal, slightly soluble in acetone, and soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, and pyridine. When deliquescent in humid air and smoke, it sublimates when white hot in a stream of hydrogen gas.
application area
1. It is an important inorganic raw material in the chemical industry, used for the production of magnesium products such as magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide, magnesium oxide, and also used as a raw material for antifreeze agents.
2. Used in the metallurgical industry for the production of metallic magnesium (obtained through melt electrolysis), liquid chlorine, and high-purity magnesium sand.
3. In the building materials industry, it is an important raw material for producing lightweight building materials such as fiberglass tiles, decorative panels, sanitary ware, ceilings, floor tiles, magnesia cement, ventilation ducts, anti-theft manhole covers, fireproof doors and windows, fireproof boards, partition boards, and high-rise building supplies such as artificial marble. High quality magnesium tiles, fireproof boards, packaging boxes, decorative boards, lightweight wall panels, grinding tools, stoves, fireworks fixatives, etc. can be used in magnesite products.
4. It can be used as a food additive, protein coagulant, snow melting agent, refrigerant, dust-proof agent, refractory material, etc. in other fields. Tofu made with brine (magnesium chloride aqueous solution) is tender and delicious compared to tofu made with gypsum
5. Metallurgical industry: Used as a binder for manufacturing refractory materials and furnace arms, and as a raw material for manufacturing secondary fluxes and smelting magnesium metal.
6. Machinery industry: In daily life, rhodochrosite can be used to make mechanical packaging boxes, triangular pads, furniture, etc. It is a good material for "replacing materials with soil".
7. Transportation industry: used as a road deicing and snow melting agent, with fast deicing speed, low corrosiveness to vehicles, and higher effectiveness than sodium chloride.
8. Medicine: "Dried brine" made from magnesium chloride can be used for medicinal purposes. Can be used as a laxative.
9. Agriculture: can be used as magnesium fertilizer, potassium magnesium fertilizer, and cotton defoliant.
10. Curing agent; Nutritional fortifiers; Flavoring agent (used in combination with magnesium sulfate, salt, calcium hydrogen phosphate, calcium sulfate, etc.); Fermentation aids such as Japanese sake; Dehydrating agent (used for fish cake, dosage 0.05% to 0.1%); Organizational improver (used in combination with polyphosphates as an elastic enhancer for fish mince products). Due to its strong bitterness, the commonly used dosage is less than 0.1%.
